Post by Pastor Dave (Mark 9:2-8)
Something happened on that wild and windy mountain. Either to Jesus or His disciples. Either way, the glory of God was made known. Glimpses of God were seen. Maybe that’s why Peter wanted to build three booths. Maybe he wanted to bask in the glow. Maybe he wanted to stay there and not go back to the old drudgery, the old pain and brokenness and ordinariness of life. Once you’ve been to the mountain, who wants to come down?!
HAVE you been to the mountain? Have you caught glimpses of God, in places and people and events you least expected God? Have you been a glimpse of that God for somebody else, like they have been for you?
Fred Buechner once said…
“Here and there in the world is a new creation…Listen to your life. See it for the
fathomless mystery that it is. In the boredom and pain of it no less than in the
excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and
hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments,
and life itself is grace.”
Perhaps our prayer this week should be…
”Holy God, help us to SEE those glimpses of glory in
our lives and then help BE those glimpses for
somebody else. Amen”
