Ignore It and It’ll Go Away… Right?

Post by Pastor Stephen

I don’t like conflict. I want everyone to be happy. However, that’s not the world we live in. Conflict happens among good well-meaning people. Conflict happens among mean and grumpy people, too. Conflict is normal, and I’m growing in my understanding of that. The question is not “how do we avoid conflict.” The question is “how do we deal with conflict as Christians?”

Pastor Dave always says to do “Matthew 18.” These are the verses he’s referring to when he’s referring to Matthew 18. So, when you’ve got a conflict with someone, Jesus says you should start by going and talking with them directly. It is one of the hardest things you’ll do, but it is both biblical and, in the long run, it is a lot simpler than ignoring the situation.

These are hard conversations but it’s the faithful thing to do. And, Jesus makes a huge promise about what he’ll do in the midst of hard conversations. Take a look about what he says about when two or three are together in those hard conversations!

Matthew 18:15-20
