Chaplains: Part of the Team

Post by Pastor Stephen

Did you know that ELCA pastors serve around the world as military chaplains? We have 136 chaplains serving (47 Active, and 89 in Reserves and National Guard). These chaplains preach the gospel, lead worship, administer the sacraments, and so much more immersed among the world of military members. As members of the ELCA you can be proud of their ministry, and the support that we provide for them through prayers, and our regular Sunday offerings. You can learn more about military chaplains online (https://www.elca.org/Our-Work/Leadership/Federal-Chaplaincy-Ministries) and on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ELCAFederalChaplaincyMinistryUpdates/).

The chaplains serving a critical role in the life of the units where they serve. They are part of the team, part of the unit. The church is kinda like that too. Paul writes in Romans that “we who are many, are one body in Christ.” Do you imagine that’s the same church that Jesus talks about building in Matthew 16:13-20?
